DDPL has a large collection of books and more for all ages in many formats:

  • Adult fiction and non-fiction
  • Young adult, school aged, children's fiction and non-fiction
  • Children's picture books, baby board books, toys, and games
  • Large print books, audio books on CD, Daisy books on CD
  • Graphic novels and French books 
  • Print magazines, movies, and T.V. series on DVD 

The library is a warm and welcoming space offering the following services to anybody who visits:

  • Children's carpet and play area with books, toys, and colouring
  • Public computers with Microsoft Word, Adobe
  • Printing (colour or black & white) and scanning to email or USB
  • Free WiFi (accessible inside or from the parking lot 24/7)
  • Technology help and guidance on using devices
  • Quiet table space to sit and work or relax
  • Small room booking, subject to availability

Membership is free to all residents and ratepayers of Douro-Dummer. Sign up for a card in-person at the library or, complete and submit the library card registration form. When your library card is ready for pick up you will receive an email. Please bring photo identification and proof of address when you pick up your card.

Children and teens under age 15 may get their own card. A parent or guardian must sign to take responsibility for all items checked out. 

The library loans the following non-traditional items to library members:

  • Ontario Parks day passes
  • Canadian Canoe Museum passes
  • Jigsaw puzzles
  • Literacy Kits
  • CO2 monitor
  • Light therapy lamp

Your DDPL card is valid at Peterborough Public Libraries and Asphodel-Norwood Public Libraries. Items must still be returned to the library branch they were borrowed from. This borrowing agreement does not apply to online resources like databases or eBooks. Simply take your DDPL card to a service desk at the Peterborough Public Library or Asphodel-Norwood Public Library to get set up. 

If we do not have the item you are looking for, we can request to have it sent to us by interlibrary loan. Interlibrary loan requests can be made to the library in person, by phone, or email. Books recently published in the last six months and rare books may not be requested. Library members can have two requests in at a time.
