Outdoor Recreation

The Township of Douro-Dummer is home to several parks which feature baseball fields, soccer fields, playground structures, free parking, sitting areas and more. You may also want to visit the Robert Johnston Eco Forest Trails to take a relaxing walk and enjoy nature or explore all the offerings at Warsaw Caves Conservation and Campground.

Parks

Location: 902 Rock Road, Warsaw, on the south side of the beautiful Indian River.

*Back Dam Park is for day use only, no overnight camping is permitted.

Spanning 151 acres, this magnificent recreational property lines both banks of the beautiful Indian River. Featuring two regulation size softball diamonds and two soccer pitches. Naturalists can enjoy bird-watching, hiking or just strolling through the massive cedars which bring the park to life year-round. Canoeing, kayaking and swimming opportunities are available to residents but are unsupervised and for use at one's own risk.

Douro Park North

Location: 205 Douro Second Line, Douro-Dummer

  • Regulation size softball diamond with screened backstop and player's benches

  • Regulation size soccer pitch with nets

  • Junior size soccer pitch with nets

  • Public unsupervised beach & swimming area

  • Playground area

  • 2 parking areas

Douro Park South

Location: 201 Douro Second Line, Douro-Dummer

Amenities:

  • Regulation size softball diamond with screened backstop, player's benches and night lights

  • Public unsupervised beach and swimming area

  • Canoeing/kayaking launch

  • Canteen and restrooms
  • Horseshoe pits

  • Playground area

  • Parking area

  • Tennis and Pickle Ball Courts — coming summer 2023!

Location: 311 Gifford Drive, Donwood

This local community park features opportunities for young children and youth to enjoy the outdoors.

  • Basketball court

Location: 894 South Street, Warsaw

The park and garden provide a tranquil setting for weddings and special events. The bountiful gardens feature colourful displays of perennials and annuals from spring to Fall.

  • Millennium Garden

  • Gazebo

  • Sitting area

  • Walking paths

  • Parking area at Municipal Parking Lot

Location: 910 Water Street, Warsaw

(located behind the Warsaw Fire Hall)

This local community park features opportunities for young children and youth to enjoy the outdoors.

Amenities:

  • Playground equipment

  • Swings

Trails

Location: 185 Douro Fifth Line, Douro-Dummer (south of County Road 8)

Enjoy approximately 5 km of walking trail.

These trails consist of a pond, wetlands, brush piles, beech trees, hardwood forest, white ash, drumlin/red pine forest, rock piles, cedar forest, dog strangling vine and more.

Boating

The Township of Douro-Dummer is home to Clear Lake, Katchewanooka Lake, Stoney Lake, White Lake, and the Indian River, all connected by the Trent Severn Waterway, along with many other lakes and rivers.

All municipal wharfs/docks and public boat launches are open and ready for use by the end of May (weather permitting).
