2025 Holiday Closure and Service Changes

Office Holiday Closure

The Township Office will close at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, and will reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026.

All office services will resume on Friday, January 2, 2026.

Douro-Dummer Public Library Holiday Closure

Douro-Dummer Public Library will be closed from Wednesday, December 24, 2025, and will reopen at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026.

Items due back at the Library during this time can be returned fine-free in the new year. 

Garbage Collection Changes 

2025

• Garbage collection scheduled for Thursday, December 25, 2025, will be collected on Saturday, December 27, 2025. 
• Normal garbage collection is scheduled for December 26, 2025.

2026

• Garbage collection scheduled for Thursday, January 1, 2026, will be collected on Saturday, January 3, 2026.

Recycling Collection

2025

• Recycling collection scheduled on Thursday December 25, 2025, will be collected on Saturday, December 27, 2025. 
• Normal collection is scheduled for December 26, 2025. 

2026

• Recycling collection scheduled for Thursday, January 1, 2026, will be collected on Saturday, January 3, 2026.
• Recycling collection scheduled for Friday, January 2, 2026, will be collected on Saturday, January 3, 2026.

Halls Glen Transfer Station

• Transfer station will be closed on Wednesday December 24, 2025.
• Regular hours of operation will continue for the remainder of the Holiday period, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.. 

Emergencies 

• For Public Works emergencies (such as washouts, flooding, trees across the road, etc.) please call the 24-hour Public Works emergency line 705-926-0214.
• If you have a life and property threatening emergency please call 911.

Burn Permits

2026 Burn Permits are available online. 

The cost of residential burn permits has been reduced from $20 to $15 for 2026.

Visit dourodummer.burnpermits.com to purchase a new permit or renew your burn permit.

Free Holiday Skates

The Township of Douro-Dummer with the support of local businesses and community partners will be hosting 12 free skates at the community centers over the holidays.
