Update Regarding the 2026 Budget Process

The Township of Douro-Dummer has been working on its 2026 Budget.
The budget process involves several meetings where Township Staff present a proposed budget to Council, and Council considers and debates the budget in relation to the needs of the community for the coming year. The 2026 Budget schedule was approved at the Council meeting held on June 17, 2025.
Completed Budget Meetings:
- October 16, 10:00 am – Special Council Meeting: Township Council reviewed the 2026 Draft Budget.

- October 21, 5:00 pm – Council Meeting: The CAO presented the 2026 Draft Budget, and a public meeting was held to hear feedback and comments from residents and ratepayers.

- October 23, 6:30 pm – Coffee and Conversation Community Engagement Event: A casual forum was held at Town Hall for residents and ratepayers to speak to Council and Staff about the 2026 Draft Budget. During this event, the attendees were encouraged to share written comments on the 2026 Draft Budget.

Upcoming Budget Meetings:
- November 18, 5:00 pm – Council Meeting: Staff will present a second draft of the Budget which will incorporate comments and questions received from Council and the public, along with Council Resolutions. Council will review, discuss, and debate the draft Budget presented.
- Delegation Requests can be submitted through the website or in person at the Township Office, the deadline is 12-noon on November 11, 2025.
- Requests to make a Public Comment can be submitted through the Township website or at the Township Office no later than Monday November 17 at 12-noon.
- Correspondence to appear on this Agenda can be submitted to the Clerk – Deputy CAO via email or in person at the Township Office, the deadline is 12-noon on November 11, 2025.
- December 16, 5:00 pm – Council Meeting: Staff anticipates that a version of the 2026 Budget will be presented for Council’s review and direction. Following this meeting, Township staff will prepare the final budget documents for January 2026.
- Delegation Requests can be submitted through the website or in person at the Township Office, the deadline is 12-noon on December 9, 2025.
- Requests to make a Public Comment can be submitted through the Township website or at the Township Office no later than Monday, December 15, 2025, at 12-noon.
- Correspondence to appear on this Agenda can be submitted to the Clerk – Deputy CAO via email or in person at the Township Office, the deadline is 12-noon on November 11, 2025.
The public is welcome to attend Council meetings in person or watch online via the Township YouTube Channel.
All information submitted regarding the 2026 Draft Budget will be collected under the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. 2001, c. 25. Written comments may be shared with Council and staff, appear on the Township website as part of the Council agenda, and form part of the public record.
