Candidate Nomination & Campaign Period Opens May 1, 2026

For those interested in running as a candidate for the Office of the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Councillor or School Board Trustee for the Township of Douro-Dummer 2026 Municipal Election, nomination papers can be filed from May 1, 2026 to August 21, 2026. 

To file your nomination papers, please contact the Township Clerk, Martina Chait-Hartwig by phone 705-652-8392 ext. 210 or by email mchaithartwig@dourodummer.ca. Appointments can be made from May 1, 2026 to August 20, 2026 (Monday to Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) and on August 21, 2026 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Candidates running for Municipal Council must obtain 25 endorsement signatures from eligible voters in the Township in which the office is being sought. Signatures must be submitted in conjunction with the candidate’s nomination papers. Nominations filed for the school board do not require the endorsement of 25 persons.

Filing fees are $200 for the Head of Council (Mayor) and $100 for all other offices and must be paid by cash, certified cheque, money order or interac.

The Municipal Election Voting Day is Monday, October 26, 2026.
