UPDATE - ORCA Flood Watch & Watershed Condition Statement - April 29, 2026

Please be advised that on Thursday Wednesday 29, 2026, the Otonabee Region Conservation Authority (ORCA) extended the flood watch for local watercourses until May 7, 2026. 

A flood warning was originally issued on April 10, 2026 and has been downgraded to a flood watch, please scroll to the bottom of the page to view the original flood warning. 


Subject: FLOOD WATCH issued for the Trent Severn-Waterway: This Watch is a downgrade from the Warning first issued April 10th, effective immediately.

WATERSHED CONDITIONS STATEMENT – WATER SAFETY issued for local watercourses in the jurisdiction of Otonabee Conservation: This Statement is an update.

Issued to: Municipalities, water management authorities, Indigenous communities, Ministry of Natural Resources, and Otonabee Conservation’s other partners in flood emergency management.
Weather: The forecast is for 20-30 millimeters of rain in the Haliburton-Reservoir Lakes region and the Otonabee Region over the next seven days, starting April 29, 2026. The rainfall pattern is light to moderate, scattered showers with maximum daily amounts at or below the 5-10 mm range.
Flood Risk - Trent-Severn Waterway: Water levels and flows, while still elevated, are now receding along Trent-Severn Waterway within the jurisdiction of Otonabee Conservation. The forecasted rainfall is not expected to impact the current slow and steady recession.

Flood Risk Local Watercourses: Local water levels are receding, and this trend is expected to continue.

Action: Unsafe conditions will persist on and around all area watercourses, including unstable banks, extremely cold water and fast and turbulent flows. Stay away from all water control structures and culverts.

Otonabee Conservation will continue to monitor weather forecasts and water levels, providing updates as necessary. Municipalities, Indigenous communities, local water managers, emergency services and individuals can monitor water levels at Trent-Severn Waterway, Water Survey of Canada and Otonabee Conservation websites.

This Flood Watch and Watershed Conditions Statement will expire Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 3:00p.m. unless up-dated earlier.
