The Township of Douro-Dummer operates the Halls Glen Transfer Station located at 1951 County Road 6 We accept a variety of garbage, recycling, compost, large items and household waste.

Hours of operation

Transfer Station Cards

You need a Transfer Station Card to use the Transfer Station. We will send out a new card each year along with your first tax bill. If you need a replacement card, you can purchase one for $25 at the Transfer Station.

Fees

Review our disposal fees:

• $3 per bag of garbage
• $3 for materials weighing less than 13.6 kg (30 lbs)
• $150 per tonne for loads greater than 13.6 kg
• For appliances containing Freon, an additional $27 fee is charged as well as the per tonne cost

We are currently only accepting debit payments.

We accept bagged garbage, blue box recycling and food waste as well as:

• Loose garbage in clear bags
• Scrap metal
• Scrap wood
• Electronic waste
• Propane tanks
• Used oil
• Tires 

Please note that mattresses and box-springs are not being accepted at this time.

Waste disposal rules

Please follow all standard waste disposal rules:

• Garbage must be placed in clear bags
• Blue box recycling must be sorted (containers and fibres)
• Only food waste is allowed in the Moloks (no yard waste, packaging or bags)

Environmental and household hazardous waste events

To dispose of household hazardous waste outside of events, please visit the Household Hazardous Waste Depot in the County of Peterborough.

Bush, leaf and yard waste

Bush, leaf or yard waste is not accepted at the Halls Glen Transfer Station. You can dispose of this material at:

• Peterborough Waste Management Facility
• Waste Connections Canada Facility at 348 County Road 6, Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Warsaw Public Works yard – Available in the spring and fall only, please visit the Composting webpage for additional details. The gate to the yard is open from Monday at 7:00 a.m. until Friday at 1:00 p.m. Please note the bin is not accessible on Saturday, Sunday or Statutory Holidays.

The County of Peterborough collects leaf and yard waste in Donwood in the spring and fall each year. Residents in Donwood can learn more by visiting the County of Peterborough's Leaf and Yard Waste webpage.

Construction and demolition waste 

Construction and demolition waste is not accepted at the Halls Glen Transfer Station, but can be disposed of at the following locations:

• Peterborough Waste Management Facility
• Waste Connections Canada Facility at 348 County Road 6, Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
