BizPal is an online service that provides entrepreneurs with simplified access to information about business permits, licences and other requirements needed to start, operate and grow their business from the federal, provincial/territorial and participating municipal governments.

Start-Up Opportunities

Are you interested in starting a business, but you’re not sure where to start? Peterborough and Kawarthas Economic Development offers Starter Company Plus. Starter Company Plus is designed to provide business training for entrepreneurs (from aspiring to experienced) in the City and County of Peterborough who are launching a business or expanding an existing business.

Starter Company Plus provides:
• In class training with experts in their fields to help you plan your business
• Education and assistance in writing a business plan that may help you obtain more traditional financing in the future if you require it
• A chance to receive a $5,000 microgrant
• A chance to build your network with other local small business owners and start ups
• 12 applicants will be chosen for each intake. Upon successful completion of the program, participants will submit their final business plan and pitch for a chance to receive one of six $5,000 microgrants.

 Mobile Canteen By-law

Mobile Canteen businesses must operate in a safe, sanitary manner and reflects federal, provincial and municipal regulations. To ensure these measures have been met public interest to licence and regulate Mobile Canteens for the purpose of Health and Safety.  Conditions for Special Occasions Permits

If you are looking to hold a special event, a Special Occasions Permit is required. In addition, the responsible person must obtain a Special Occasion Permit from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). The Special Occasion Permit holder must ensure that all the conditions of the Liquor Licence Act and the Corporation of the Township of Douro-Dummer are followed at the event.
