Please visit the Douro-Dummer Public Library to sign up for a library card. With a library card, you can borrow books and other resources from our collection.

Renew a book

You can renew a book online through the library catalogue. Please select “My Account” from the top menu and you'll be able to enter your library card number and renew any books that you currently have checked out.

Accessible books

The Centre for Equitable Library Access provides individuals with print disabilities access to books in alternate formats. If you have a learning, physical or visual disability that prevents you from reading printed books, try the Centre for Equitable Library Access and explore their collection.

FAQ

How do I get a library card?

To obtain a library card, new patrons need to fill out a registration form and provide a proof of address (driver's licence, utility bill, etc.). While the library is closed, it is still possible to get a library card. Send us an email or give us a call to learn how.

I don't live in the Douro-Dummer Township, can I still get a library card?

Yes! Non-resident can still get a library card from our Library for a $30 yearly fee.

How many books/DVDs am I allowed to borrow at a time?

As many as you want!

How long can I keep the library material I borrowed?

  • All books (fiction, non-fiction, children's books, etc.) can be borrowed for three weeks.
  • DVDs
    • Movies can be borrowed for one week.
    • TV Series ca be borrowed for three weeks.
  • Magazines can be borrowed for three weeks.
  • Audiobooks can be borrowed for three weeks.

How can I access my Library Account?

To access your Library Account, you must have your library card number and your pin. For first time user the pin is “books”. Once you've accessed your account you can change your pin with one of your choosing.

How can I renew my books?

To renew your books you can either call or email us, or you can do it through your library account (see question above on how to access your library account). There is a maximum of two renewals per library item; unless another patron has put a hold on the item, in which case you will not be able to renew it.

How can I borrow e-books or audiobooks?

To borrow e-books and audiobooks you will need to log into Overdrive with your Library Card number. First you will click on “Sign-In” at the top right of the page, then you will find our Library in the drop-down menu, finally you will enter your library card number. Overdrive has a great help page in case you need extra help. If you're still stuck don't hesitate to contact the library!
