An OTF Capital Grant Makes a Difference at Clintonia Park

Donwood, ON In 2019, the Township of Douro Dummer received a $76,900 Capital grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to assist with the purchase and installation of playground equipment at Clintonia Park in Donwood. Construction of the park was completed in the spring.

“Communities need safe spaces where families can gather and kids can play. I am pleased that through the Ontario Trillium Foundation Capital grant, the residents of Donwood have new equipment that is safe for the kids to play on and a community space for all to enjoy.”

Since early 2019, plans have been under way to replace the equipment as the original equipment was aging and no longer met current safety standards. The park serves approximately 500 residents in the Donwood community.

With Council’s support, the collaborative effort has community volunteers and Township staff replacing the equipment and addressing the landscaping and drainage issues in the park.

“Having grown up in the community, I am happy that we were able to bring the neighbourhood together to make this space a fun space for everyone for generations to come,” said Angela Bullock, a volunteer working on the committee.’

The OTF is an agency of the Government of Ontario, and one of Canada’s leading granting foundations. OTF awarded $115 million to 644 projects last year to build healthy and vibrant communities in Ontario. For more information, please visit the website of the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
