Sewage System Permits

You need a sewage system permit before you install or replace a sewage system on your property in the Township of Douro-Dummer.

It takes generally 6 to 10 business days for us to issue a building permit. If the application is complex, it may take longer.

Application details

Please include the following documents along with your application:

  • Complete Sewage Permit Application
  • Building Permit Application
  • Schedule 1 (designer information)
  • Schedule 2 (sewage system installer)
  • Authorization to act as an agent (if applicable)
  • Site plan/layout
  • Test pit dug to minimum 1.5 m depth

Fees
 

The following fees apply depending on the type of sewage system:

  • Class 2 sewage system permit costs $375
  • Class 3 sewage system permit costs $375
  • Class 4 sewage system permit with a design capacity less than or equal to 4,500 L per day costs $750
  • Class 4 sewage system permit with design capacity more than 4,500 L per day and less than 10,000 L per day costs $1050
  • Class 4 tank (replacement only) costs $375
  • Class 4 bed (replacement only or repair) costs $375
  • Class 5 sewage system (holding tank) costs $750

If you're renovating or changing the use of a sewage system, it costs $250.

For planning applications the following fees apply for sewage system permits:

  • Minor variance and Zoning By-law amendments cost $175
  • Severance and subdivisions cost $175 (per lot)

If you need a copy of a previously issued permit, the cost for the search and digital copy is $45.
