On May 30, 2025, Dummer Ward Councillor Adam Vervoort submitted his resignation from Township Council to the Clerk. The protocol for resignation from Council requires the vacancy of a seat to be announced at the next council meeting, and that the seat be filled within 60 days of it being declared vacant.

As outlined in the Municipal Act council can choose to either appoint someone who qualifies for the position or hold a by-election.

Township Council made the decision to have the Clerk reach out to the Dummer Ward runner-up in the 2022 election to see if they would be interested in the role of Councillor.

More information on the filling of the Dummer Ward seat will be brought to the next Council Meeting on August 5, 2025.
