Township of Douro-Dummer Community Tree Planting Project

After the success of the Township’s 2023 Tree Planting Project, the Township is continuing the project for 2024! The Community Tree Planting Project aims to promote a robust tree canopy and engages Township residents in a meaningful way that will benefit the local environment and contribute to a healthier well-being for all.

During the derecho in May 2022, there were many lost trees and the Council of the Township of Douro-Dummer decided to provide residents with the opportunity to purchase a variety of trees native to the area with the cost being subsidized by the municipality. This program was a hit and trees quickly sold out. For 2024, a larger number of trees have been purchased to allow more residents to participate.

Pre-orders can be placed at the Municipal Office in Warsaw during regular business hours from Monday, August 19th to Friday, August 30th, 2024.

"I am proud that once again Council is able to offer the Community Tree Program to residents. We are committed to reforestation of our community following the 2022 Derecho. Each tree planted is an investment in our natural environment." says Township of Douro-Dummer Mayor, Heather Watson.

Ten different species of trees are available to purchase in 2-gallon pots for $10.00. Trees will be available for pick up at the Municipal Office mid-September and will include instructions for planting and care. For more information about the species of trees available view the list here.

Please note there is a limit of five (5) trees per household and payment is required when an order is placed. Purchased trees must be planted within the boundaries of the Township and residents will be asked to show proof of residency. Payment can be made by cash, cheque or debit at the Municipal Office.
