Saturday, September 23 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The Township of Douro-Dummer is organizing a community tree planting project that aims to promote a greener, sustainable future and engage Township residents in a meaningful way that will benefit the environment and contribute to a healthier well-being.

During the derecho in May 2022, there were many lost trees and the Council of the Township of Douro-Dummer decided to provide residents with the opportunity to purchase a variety of trees native to the area with the cost being subsidized by the municipality.

"This is a unique chance for residents to replace some of the trees that were lost to the storm in 2022. I am grateful that we have been able to allocate some funds from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry and for the work of MPP Dave Smith to help us offer a tree subsidy to support recovery and reforestation of our community" says Township of Douro-Dummer Mayor, Heather Watson.

A selection of trees is available for purchase in 2-gallon pots for $5.00 and 3-gallon pots for $10.00. Trees will be available for pick up at the Municipal Office mid-September and will include instructions for planting and care. For more information about the species of trees available view the list here

Please note there is a limit of five (5) trees per household and payment is required when an order is placed. Purchased trees must be planted within the boundaries of the Township and residents will be asked to show proof of residency. Payment can be made by cash, cheque or debit at the Municipal Office.
*Limited quantity available.
